Yes it is possible to place the Somadome outside but the Somadome should not be placed in direct sunlight as it can impact the experience. The life of the dome is longer when kept out of the elements. The metal is coated and should not rust easily. You can protect your dome by keeping it in a clear, clean, cool and dry space.
