Is this considered a Biohacking or Wellness device? What is the difference?

Recently, the term  “biohacking” has become a broad umbrella encompassing a wide range of technologies, including those lacking substantial evidence or proven effectiveness. In contrast, Somadome has been a “wellness” partner in many spa, gym and health environments with well-documented case studies, white papers, and years of research to support it.

Somadome is primarily a “wellness offering” that has been immersed in some of these ‘biohacking’ conversations by the many mega influencers, podcasts and athletes touting this genre.

Regarding some of our existing partners and research efforts underway, we’ve been grateful to have been embraced by the Under Armour Performance & Recovery Center in their HQs in both Amsterdam and Portland, integrated into their recovery circuit with their athletes rotating through the dome. They are also conducting research on the Somadome’s impact on HRV and athletic performance post dome. Similarly, the Kobe Bryant MAMBA Sports Academy studied their Somadome’s impact on NFL Combine athlete’s draft training with respect to their performance and recovery. The results these athletes have reported, and their biometrics measured, regarding their ability to both train in peak performance as well as increase and deepen their recovery time, has been extremely exciting for us.

Additionally, we’ve had the Somadome studied by an eastern doctor in his acupuncture clinic in Phoenix where he tracked his patients blood pressure over a six-week period when they did his weekly acupuncture treatments in conjunction with a weekly dome session before or after their treatment – or not. Across the board the group who combined the dome had much better biometrics improvement.

The Somadome has also been studied with at-risk high school students in measuring their tendencies and feelings of depression and anxiety as well as ability to cope and feel okay about life. Unanimously, sessions help these kids cope better with life and feel less depressed and anxious.

Most of the research we have is done through our partnerships. We also have an NIH-funded study pending in partnership with the cardiology department at UCLA as well as a private study pending with Columbia University in palliative medicine. And, at the Tim Grey HOS event London, we were approached by a neuroscientist at Oxford who is conducting research into the various styles of meditation, and which are the most effective, and she’d like to include the Somadome.

We haven’t proven it in a published study yet, we have our existing partnerships and growing body of extraordinary testimonials that claim their use has catalyzed profound healing and changes for them. Proof is a complicated area – and, we are all, only getting started.
