Replacing the USB cable that powers the touch screen

Step 1: Start by turning off and unplugging the Somadome and then removing the lower rear panel. You can find a how to video here. The lower rear panel removal will be found at the 1:38 – 1:56 minute mark. There are four nuts that need to be removed so that you can take the panel off, if they are not hand tight, we suggest using a pair of needle nose pliers to loosen the nuts and remove.

Step 2: Once you have the lower rear panel removed you will have access to the control board. You can see the USB cable in the picture below circled in red. Unplug the USB cable from the control board.

Step 3: Next step is to remove the cushions that are marked in red in the picture below.

Step 4: Then you will need to gently remove the bezel from the interior wall of the Somadome. The bezel is attached to the interior wall with velcro. You want to be careful not to remove the side of the velcro that is attached to the interior wall. I suggest using a flathead screwdriver to separate the velcro that is on the bezel from the velcro that is on the interior wall. Please see the highlighted areas in the picture below so you can see where the velcro is on the bezel.

Step 5: Once you have removed the bezel from the interior wall, remove the current USB cable from the tablet and replace with the new USB cable. Plug the new cable into the tablet and be careful not to stress the USB port in the tablet. Then plug the other end of the cable into the control board on the back of the Somadome. Once completed, turn the Somadome on and check the tablet to ensure it is receiving power and charging. Once confirmed, place the bezel back onto the velcro to mount to the interior wall, place the cushions back, and then close the lower rear panel.
